The Bihar government is embarking on an ambitious plan to alleviate long-standing traffic congestion in its urban areas. A massive budget of approximately ₹15,000 crore has been allocated for the construction of new highways, bypass roads, and overbridges across the state. This initiative marks a significant step towards bolstering Bihar's urban development and infrastructure.

According to transport department officials, the primary objective of this project is to ensure smooth vehicular movement within cities and reduce travel times. Due to increasing population and vehicle numbers, several major cities in Bihar, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, and Bhagalpur, frequently face severe traffic jams. This not only wastes people's time but also negatively impacts economic activities.

Under the plan, new bypass routes will be constructed for several cities, allowing heavy vehicles to pass through without entering the main city roads. Additionally, overbridges and underpasses will be built at busy intersections and railway crossings, reducing time spent at traffic lights and decreasing the likelihood of accidents. Widening and strengthening existing roads in urban areas will also be part of this project.

This substantial investment is expected to improve road quality and accelerate economic growth in the state. Better connectivity will benefit sectors such as trade, tourism, and agriculture. The construction work will also create new employment opportunities. The government anticipates that this project will transform Bihar's urban landscape over the next few years, providing residents with a smoother and more efficient transportation experience.
