A new and alarming 'Gen-Z model' of liquor smuggling has been uncovered in Bihar, showcasing how young individuals are employing modern tactics. On September 4th, around 9 PM, rail police at Samastipur Railway Station arrested a beautiful, model-like girl from the H-1 coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express, arriving from Delhi.

The girl, about 5.6 feet tall, fair-skinned, dressed in a black t-shirt and trousers, appeared to be a high-profile passenger. However, a search of her trolley bag revealed bottles of foreign liquor. The arrested girl was identified as Neha Jha (23), a resident of Bari village in Singhia police station area of Samastipur district. The youngest of four sisters, she is a graduate, with her father being a farmer and her mother an Anganwadi worker. Police seized approximately 75 liters of foreign liquor, valued at around 1.5 lakh rupees, from Neha's eight briefcases and two bags.

According to railway officials, Neha was traveling without a ticket and was headed to Darbhanga with Ishan, her brother-in-law's brother. Sources indicated that police received a tip-off about a fair-skinned, beautiful girl with long, thick black hair traveling with a friend to Darbhanga with liquor. Based on this information, police searched the First AC coach 38 kilometers before Darbhanga and arrested Neha and Ishan Kumar.

Sources suggest that Neha's elder sister's husband is currently imprisoned in Chhapra jail for liquor smuggling. After his arrest, the smuggling network had weakened, and Neha stepped in to revive it, enlisting Ishan's help. Villagers in Neha's hometown claimed that she had connections with prominent doctors, influential people, and wealthy individuals in Darbhanga, to whom she easily delivered liquor. It is also rumored that Neha had recruited several other girls into this network, although police are officially verifying these claims.

In addition to Neha's case, two other instances of the 'Gen-Z model' of liquor smuggling have emerged. On June 30, 2026, in Motihari, the Excise Department team apprehended a man, a woman, and a child smuggling liquor in a luxury car. Investigations revealed that this was not a family but a carefully constructed 'setup' for liquor smuggling. The woman confessed that the man driving the car was not her husband but a 'hired husband.' A whole syndicate was operating with a fixed 'daily rate' to avoid suspicion and evade police.
