Patna, Hindustan Bureau. Following the polling on October 23 for eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council, vote counting will take place today, Tuesday, with election results expected to be announced. These include four graduate and four teacher constituency seats. Counting centers have been established at all concerned divisional headquarters. The Election Commission announced on Monday that vote counting will commence at 8 AM, with counting observers and personnel already deployed.

According to official sources from the Election Commission, for these ballot paper elections, a quota of valid votes will first be determined, which is 50% of the total valid votes. Subsequently, first preference votes will be counted. A candidate's victory is possible only if their first preference votes exceed the set quota. Candidates with fewer votes will be eliminated, and their second preference votes will be added to the votes of leading candidates. This process will continue until the final results are declared.

Commission sources indicate that results for various seats are likely to emerge only after evening. If no candidate secures votes equal to or exceeding the quota, counting will continue until a leading candidate achieves more than the quota through the prescribed process. Vote counting will be conducted on 14 tables for graduate seats and 7 tables for teacher seats. All security and other arrangements have been completed.
