Patna: Bihar Advocate General SD Sanjay has provided crucial information regarding the stipend scheme for new advocates in the state. He announced that all new advocates registered with the Bihar State Bar Council after January 1, 2024, will receive a monthly stipend of five thousand rupees for a continuous period of three years. The deadline to apply for this scheme is November 30, 2026.

Advocate General SD Sanjay clarified that the government is committed to this new scheme, although minor issues might arise during the initial phase. The government has announced several welfare schemes for advocates. In addition to the monthly stipend for new advocates enrolled from January 1, 2024, Bar Associations will also receive five lakh rupees for e-libraries. For this purpose, the government has already disbursed 30 crore rupees to the Bihar Advocates Welfare Trust Committee.

The scheme also includes special provisions for women advocates, such as improved toilet facilities in courts and chamber enhancements. To avail the stipend, lawyers must purchase an application form for one hundred rupees and submit it.

The list of required documents for application includes a matriculation certificate, advocate registration certificate, experience and active practice certificate, parents' income certificate, Bihar domicile certificate, PAN card, AIBE exam pass certificate, and an affidavit confirming no involvement in criminal cases. Additionally, lawyers must submit an affidavit stating they are not engaged in any other profession besides law, along with a cancelled cheque. The application form must bear the signatures of the President and General Secretary of the respective association.
