Patna: Rajendra Nagar ROB Closed Till November 5 For Metro Construction, Large Vehicles Restricted
The Rajendra Nagar Railway Overbridge (ROB) in Patna will remain closed for large vehicles until November 5 due to ongoing Patna Metro construction work. This decision has been taken to facilitate the movement of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) from Rajendra Nagar Terminal towards Dakshini Gulzarbagh, ensuring safety standards and addressing vibration-related concerns.
During this period, the movement of large vehicles and four-wheelers will be completely restricted, while two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, rickshaws, and auto-rickshaws will continue to operate. The construction work is expected to take approximately 10 to 12 days. If the work is completed ahead of schedule, traffic will be restored sooner.
Traffic police have advised commuters to use alternative routes. Drivers are encouraged to use the alternative routes towards R.N. Singh Mor and Bahadurpur. Vehicles coming from the Chiraiyatand bridge are being diverted towards Kankarbagh Main Road, while some drivers are using Kanti Factory Road via Munna Chak to reach the Old Bypass.
On Monday, the sudden closure of the bridge caused significant inconvenience to the public, as no prior notification was issued regarding the traffic diversion. This led to heavy traffic jams on surrounding roads. Local residents expressed their anger over the unannounced closure and protested, following which traffic police removed some of the stones used to block the bridge. Commuters argued that such a major traffic change should have been communicated in advance to avoid inconvenience. The closure also impacted R.N. Singh Mor, where increased vehicle pressure led to congestion.
