Thousands of aspirants dreaming of becoming Police Sub-Inspectors in Bihar have faced a setback. The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) in Patna has cancelled the main written examination for Daroga recruitment. The commission has issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notice released by the commission, the main written examination, held in two shifts on May 27, 2026, has been cancelled due to 'unavoidable reasons'. The commission has assured candidates that new dates for the re-conduct of the cancelled main examination will be announced soon. All candidates are advised to rely on the commission's official website, , for updates regarding new exam dates and admit cards.

Candidates had been demanding the cancellation of the examination, citing irregularities. They had also staged protests, alleging malpractice in the exam and demanding a re-examination, which led to this decision.

Out of a total of 1799 posts, 850 are reserved for unreserved category candidates. EBC (Extremely Backward Class) has 298 seats, BC (Backward Class) 222, SC 180, ST 63, EWS 42, Backward Class women 36, and Freedom Fighter quota 8 posts. Selected Sub-Inspectors will receive a monthly salary of Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000, along with various government allowances and facilities.

The Daroga Police Sub-Inspector recruitment process comprises three stages: a written examination, a Physical Efficiency Test (PET/PMT), and finally, a medical test. Appointments will be made based on the merit list.
