The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has made significant revelations in the irregularities surrounding the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment preliminary examination. It has been confirmed that question papers were leaked from an examination center in Purnia during the exam held on January 18, 2026, under advertisement number 05/2025.

The EOU's investigation revealed that images of question booklet number 51212241 from the first shift and 52212038 from the second shift were sent out of the +2 RPC High School examination center in Purnia City after the exam had commenced. It is alleged that these question papers reached a 'solver gang' through the connivance of examination center staff and other individuals, who then prepared the answers.

Further investigation showed that the question papers belonged to candidates Rupesh Kumar (first shift) and Naresh Kumar (second shift). Both candidates successfully cleared the preliminary examination, with Rupesh Kumar also passing the main examination. The EOU has recommended action against both candidates to the commission.

The roles of Mohammad Muzaffar Alam, the center superintendent of +2 RPC High School, Purnia City, and office employee Vivek Kumar, have come under scrutiny. Allegations include the superintendent creating a false seating plan and arbitrarily assigning candidates to examination rooms, as well as fraudulent signatures on duty charts.

Based on the investigation, FIR number 30/2026 was registered at the Economic Offenses Police Station on October 27, 2026, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The EOU has submitted its investigation report to the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission for further action, and the probe continues.
