A teacher recruitment examination was recently conducted in Bihar, where only 1931 out of a total of 3864 registered candidates appeared. The exam was held at various centers, with extensive arrangements made to ensure security and a fair environment free from malpractice. During the examination, a flying squad conducted surprise inspections at different centers. The primary objective of this team was to ensure that the examination process was being conducted in a fair and transparent manner and to prevent any irregularities.

The flying squad reviewed CCTV footage, verified candidate identities, and evaluated the performance of invigilators in the examination halls. The team particularly focused on centers where complaints had arisen in previous exams or where there was a higher risk of malpractice. During the inspection, the team found that arrangements at most centers were satisfactory and the exam was proceeding smoothly. However, minor protocol violations were noted at a few centers, and immediate instructions were given for their rectification.

The significant number of absent candidates remains a concern. The attendance of less than half of the total registered candidates suggests that many applicants either did not intend to take the exam after applying or were unable to appear for other reasons. The reasons behind this low turnout are being analyzed to better plan for future examinations. The education department and the relevant examination board are seriously considering this matter. The results of this examination will play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of teachers in the state.
