Maharajganj: A 37-year-old youth from Bihar drowned in the Kharnoiya canal near Mujuri in the Paniyara police station area on Saturday evening. After the accident, onlookers pulled him out of the canal and took him to Paniyara PHC, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased was identified through an Aadhaar card found in a bag near the canal. The card identified him as Vipin Shah, a resident of Rahata village and post, Madhepura district, Bihar.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth arrived at a religious site, placed his bag, removed his clothes, and entered the canal. He stood in shallow water for a while, crying, before moving into deeper water where he drowned. When he did not resurface after some time, people raised an alarm and pulled him from the canal. Paniyara Station Officer Kunwar Gaurav Singh stated that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
