In Bisfi block of Madhubani district, online hearings for cases are being conducted through the E-Gram Kachehri portal. A total of 328 new cases have been registered in the Gram Kachehri here, and their proceedings are now taking place digitally. The Gram Kachehri plays a crucial role in resolving minor disputes at the rural level.

Across the entire Madhubani district, over five thousand cases have been registered to date, with approximately 3100 of these resolved through reconciliation. A total of 386 Gram Kachehris are actively functioning across 21 blocks in the district. Their primary objective is to settle small disputes at the local level in rural areas, ensuring quick and accessible justice for villagers.

The introduction of the E-Gram Kachehri portal has significantly simplified the process of maintaining case records and tracking their current status. Triloki Nath, the Block President of the Bisfi Gram Kachehri Secretaries Association, stated that the Gram Kachehri is instrumental in realizing Mahatma Gandhi's vision of 'Gram Swaraj' (village self-rule). He emphasized that villagers still hold strong faith in the social justice delivered by the 'Panch Parmeshwar' (the five revered judges). The Gram Kachehri offers villagers an opportunity to resolve their disputes locally, fostering mutual harmony and brotherhood within the community. It handles interpersonal disputes as well as certain land-related matters.
