Significant irregularities have been discovered in the construction of the Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan in Bochahan block, Muzaffarpur district, following an investigation into the development works of the Panchayati Raj Department. Officials have mandated that a report on the matter be submitted within 24 hours, causing a stir at the block headquarters.

A team led by Sandeep Shekhar Priyadarshani, Secretary to the Commissioner of Tirhut Division and Deputy Director of Panchayati Raj, arrived at the Bochahan block office on Wednesday. The team conducted a thorough examination of records, funds, and registers related to various schemes of the Panchayat Samiti and the Panchayati Raj Department. During the inspection, information was gathered regarding the funds for Panchayat Samiti schemes, records related to Panchayati Raj Department schemes, and the progress of ongoing development projects at the block level. Officials also reviewed the status of schemes being implemented in the panchayats.

Specifically, the inspection team visited the site of the Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan under construction in Karnpur North Panchayat. The on-site inspection revealed clear discrepancies in the quality of the building's construction. The investigating officer took this irregularity seriously and assured that necessary investigations and actions would be taken. Furthermore, strict instructions were given to concerned employees regarding deficiencies found in cash management and other records associated with the block office. The investigation officer instructed them to rectify these shortcomings and submit an updated report within 24 hours.

The arrival of the investigation team at the block office caused a commotion among the concerned staff. Officials clarified that development schemes operating under the Panchayati Raj Department are inspected every three months. The primary objective of these inspections is to review the implementation of schemes, proper record-keeping, and the quality and status of construction works.
