The dilapidated condition of the Panchdev Temple pond in Raghunathpur, Brahampur block, has raised concerns among local Chhath devotees. With the Chhath Mahaparv approaching, the pond is filled with garbage and debris, leading to severe water pollution. The lack of proper cleaning and maintenance has left hundreds of families in a dilemma, as they traditionally offer prayers and arghya to Lord Surya at this very ghat.

According to local residents, the Panchdev Temple pond holds significant religious and social importance. Every year, hundreds of families from surrounding areas gather here to perform Chhath rituals, drawing large crowds. The current dismal state of the pond has cast a shadow over this year's festival preparations.

Villagers, including Manish Kumar, Prabhu Mishra, and Sonu Dubey, stated that continuous dumping of waste and administrative neglect have contaminated the pond's water, also raising health concerns. They have urged the concerned administration, panchayat representatives, and public representatives to take immediate action. The villagers have demanded cleaning of the pond, removal of waste, purification of the water, and repair of the ghats to ensure convenience for Chhath devotees during the auspicious festival.
