The Buthi River in Daniyawan block of Patna district is severely affected by heavy silt and sediment accumulation, leading to a near halt in its water flow. Local farmers report that the tributary rivers of Buthi have also dried up, causing a significant water shortage in the region. The blockage due to silt and waste has made it difficult to access water for irrigation.

Farmers explained that the Buthi River originates in Fatuha and flows through Daniyawan before merging with the Punpun River. It is considered a lifeline for several villages in Daniyawan block, playing a crucial role in agricultural irrigation and maintaining groundwater levels. However, due to neglect over the past few years, silt and sediment have continuously accumulated in the river.

Local farmers, including Ramnath Prasad, Kapildev Prasad, Surendra Prasad, Shivnandan Prasad, and Manoj Prasad, have urged the government and relevant departments to undertake immediate desilting of the river. They warn that if the river is not cleaned in time, severe waterlogging could occur during the upcoming monsoon season, leading to significant crop damage. Additionally, the continued drop in groundwater levels could exacerbate the drinking water crisis. Farmers hope that the administration will address their serious concerns and find a solution soon.
