A tragic road accident occurred on National Highway-19 (NH-19) near Naveen Mandi in Chandauli's Sadar Kotwali area. A pickup truck laden with suran (yam) collided from behind with a Hyva truck, resulting in the instant death of the pickup driver. The impact was so severe that the front part of the pickup was completely destroyed, and the driver was trapped inside the cabin.

Upon receiving information about the accident, Sadar Kotwali police and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) rescue team immediately rushed to the scene. After considerable effort, using cranes and other equipment, the damaged cabin of the vehicle was cut open to extract the driver, but he had already succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary police investigation and documents found in the pickup identified the deceased driver as Pankaj Chaudhary, a resident of Mohania, Bihar. Highway Mandi Chowki In-charge Markandey Singh, along with his police team, arrived at the spot to assess the situation. Police cleared the accident-damaged vehicles from the road with the help of a crane, restoring normal traffic flow. Sadar Kotwali police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to the district hospital. The news of this tragic accident has plunged the deceased's family into mourning. Police are currently investigating the causes of the accident.
