Jhanjharpur, Madhubani: A shocking incident has come to light from Chanka Musahari Tola in the Bhairab Sthan police station area of Jhanjharpur, where a married woman was allegedly strangled to death. Following the murder, her in-laws reportedly attempted to hang the body to make it appear as a suicide, then placed it on a cot, locked the house, and fled. The incident is reported to have occurred on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Saro Devi, 25, wife of Kashi Saday, a resident of Chanka village. The victim's mother, Chandrakala Devi, from Garhi village under Lakhnaur police station, has accused her daughter's husband Kashi Saday, her brother-in-law, mother-in-law, and father-in-law of jointly murdering her. She alleged that they strangled Saro Devi with a rope inside the house, then tried to stage it as a suicide by hanging the body. Later, they took the body down, placed it on a cot, locked the house from outside, and absconded.

Bhairab Sthan Station House Officer (SHO) Satyendra Tiwari stated that upon receiving information, a police team arrived at the scene. In the presence of villagers, the house lock was broken, and the body was recovered from the cot inside. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it to Madhubani Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

According to family sources, Saro Devi had a love marriage with Kashi Saday, her sister's brother-in-law, approximately three years ago. Since their marriage, there had been frequent domestic disputes. The victim had given birth to a child via operation, who later died, and she had no subsequent children. Relatives reported that on Friday, Kashi Saday was leaving for another state for work but returned midway. When his wife inquired about his return, an argument escalated, leading to the in-laws collectively murdering her.

The SHO mentioned that a written application has not yet been received at the police station. Once the application is submitted, an FIR will be registered, and a thorough investigation into the causes of the murder will be conducted. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the absconding in-laws.
