Two tragic incidents have cast a pall of gloom over Chapra district. In the first incident, Virendra Singh, a 40-year-old resident of Tara Amanour village in Maker block, died in a road accident. The incident occurred while he was on his way to Molnapur, beyond Bheldi, to travel to Varanasi. He was severely injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle on the way and succumbed to his injuries late Wednesday night during treatment at AIIMS Patna. Virendra Singh was the sole earning member of his family. His father had passed away just about a month ago, and the family was still reeling from that loss. He is survived by his wife, Ranjani Devi, and 17-year-old son, Vineet Kumar. Villagers have urged the administration to provide government assistance to the grieving family.

In a separate incident, a 10-year-old boy named Ramesh Kumar drowned in a pond in Jamuna village, under the Muffasil police station area, on Thursday. Ramesh was playing with other children near his home when he slipped and fell into the deep water. When he did not return home for a long time, his family began searching for him. With the help of villagers, his body was recovered from the pond, but he had already passed away. Upon receiving information, Muffasil police arrived at the scene, took the body into custody, and sent it to Chapra Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family. Both incidents have caused immense sorrow throughout the region.
