A shocking incident unfolded on Monday in Akoor village, under the Benipatti police station area of Madhubani district. The body of a five-year-old child, who had come to his maternal grandparents' home, was found tied in a sack in a water-filled pit a short distance from the house. The deceased has been identified as Sushant Kumar, son of Amar Bhandari, a resident of Umgaon Durgapatti village in the Harlakhi police station area.

Sushant had arrived at his maternal grandparents' home in Akoor village, Benipatti, with his mother four or five days prior. On Monday around 2 PM, the child went missing, prompting his family and villagers to initiate a search. Around 6 PM, his body, tied in a sack, was discovered in a waist-deep water-filled pit near the maternal home. The discovery caused a stir in the village. Family members took the child to Benipatti Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived in Akoor, took custody of the body, and brought it to the police station. The exact cause of death will only be clear after the post-mortem report. According to initial information, there was a prior dispute between the deceased's mother and his alleged maternal aunt over money theft. Local residents are accusing the alleged maternal aunt of the child's murder. However, the police have not yet confirmed the cause of death or the involvement of any specific person.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, Additional Station House Officer of Benipatti, stated that the process of sending the child's body for post-mortem to Sadar Hospital Madhubani is underway. The police are thoroughly investigating the entire matter and awaiting the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, the alleged maternal aunt's health reportedly deteriorated after the incident, and she has been admitted to Benipatti Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
