The recruitment process for contract teachers in the newly established Kendriya Vidyalayas in Madhubani and Jhanjharpur has been postponed once again until further orders. On September 17, the in-charge principals of both schools issued a notice stating that contract recruitment would remain suspended. The process for these two schools will now commence next year in January-February, coinciding with recruitments in other Kendriya Vidyalayas. The in-charge principal of Jhanjharpur Kendriya Vidyalaya confirmed this development.

Previously, a walk-in interview was scheduled for August 25 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Rampatti for positions including primary teacher, computer instructor, music instructor, and Balvatika teacher. Thousands of candidates arrived for the interviews, leading to overcrowding and chaos from the school premises to the main road. Consequently, the District Public Relations Office announced the postponement of the interviews on August 26.

According to the administration, both schools are intended to offer education from Balvatika to Class five. Each school has six contract positions for Balvatika teachers, six for primary teachers, one for a computer instructor, and one for a music instructor. This recruitment is purely contractual and has no relation to permanent appointments. To streamline the process, a list of shortlisted candidates was released, with 569 names in one list and 531 in the Balvatika list. However, the in-charge principal stated that approximately four thousand applications were received for the six positions, raising questions about the high number of applicants.

As per Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan guidelines, a Balvatika teacher must have at least 50% marks in 12th grade, along with a diploma of not less than two years in Nursery Teacher Education, Pre-school Education, or Early Childhood Education, or a B.Ed. in Nursery. This diploma must be from an institution recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education. Questions are now being raised about the basis on which NTT certificates from private institutions are being considered equivalent to the prescribed diploma. Locally, several private institutions are promoting NTT courses as valid qualifications for government jobs and Balvatika teacher positions in Kendriya Vidyalayas. It has also come to light that these institutions are charging fees ranging from five thousand to thirty thousand rupees from candidates. There are also allegations that some institutions are offering certificates with backdated entries, which warrants investigation.

Principal Rishi Raman Mishra of Kendriya Vidyalaya Darbhanga, who also holds charge of Jhanjharpur, stated that with only four months remaining in the current session, recruitment would commence from the new session based on the decision of the District Magistrate and higher officials. Regarding NTT certificates, he mentioned that there are no official government guidelines, and it operates at a non-governmental organization level, adding that he lacks the means to verify their authenticity.
