The Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest march in Khagaria on Saturday, demanding the protection of democracy and the constitution, and accountability and impartiality from the Election Commission. The march was organized as part of a nationwide call by the party. It commenced from the district party office, proceeded to the BSNL office, and culminated at Hospital Chowk.

At Hospital Chowk, an effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was burnt, and party workers demanded his arrest. Following the effigy burning, state secretariat member Sanjay Kumar stated that the Election Commission's responsibility extends beyond merely conducting elections; it also includes ensuring free and fair elections, transparent voter lists, and equal opportunities for all. Sanjay Kumar alleged that the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process was conducted hastily before the Bihar Assembly elections in 2025, leading to the wrongful deletion of millions of voters' names. He further claimed that similar processes were adopted prior to the West Bengal and Goa Assembly elections.

CPIM demanded the dismissal and imprisonment of Gyanesh Kumar, a halt to the SIR process, and the cancellation of controversial assembly elections held in the last one and a half years, with fresh elections to be conducted based on old voter lists. Hundreds of party workers and supporters, including Devendra Chaurasia, Surendra Prasad Mahto, and Kundan Mehta, participated in the march.
