A Dandi Bam Kanwariya (a pilgrim who prostrates along the path) died of electrocution on Friday evening in the Suiya police station area of Banka district. The tragic incident occurred near Lohatniya on the Kanwariya path. The deceased has been identified as Monu Singh, son of Anil Singh, a resident of Olhipur village in the Piparia police station area of Lakhisarai district.

Monu Singh, along with about two dozen companions from his village, had embarked on a pilgrimage to Baba Dham on July 30, carrying water from Sultanganj and performing Dand Pranam (prostrating) along the way. On Friday, they stopped at a hotel near Lohatniya on the Kanwariya path to rest. According to reports, after bathing and returning to the hotel, Monu suddenly felt dizzy and fell onto a stand fan. During this, he came into contact with a bare part of the fan's wire, suffered an electric shock, and became unconscious.

With the help of locals and his companions, Monu was immediately taken to the Katoria Community Health Center, where Dr. Vinod Kumar declared him dead after examination. Upon receiving information about the incident, Belhar In-charge SDPO Sumit Shekhar, Katoria Circle Inspector Ranjit Kumar, and Suiya SHO Kanhaiya Jha reached the community health center with police forces. Later in the evening, the deceased's brother Ram Kumar and other family members also arrived at the hospital. After necessary procedures, the police sent the body to Banka Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A UD case has been registered based on the statement of the deceased's brother, Ram Kumar.
