Armed criminals carried out a major robbery in the Daraunda police station area of Siwan district on Friday midnight, targeting two houses belonging to real brothers. Four to five armed individuals broke into homes located in the same compound in Ramgarha Bichla Tola, belonging to Sanjay Singh and his elder brother, the late Raju Singh.

The criminals held family members at gunpoint, stealing gold and silver jewelry worth over five lakh rupees and approximately 15,000 rupees in cash. The incident has caused panic in the area and raised questions about police night patrols and rural security.

According to reports, around midnight on Friday, the criminals broke a window of Sanjay Singh's house to enter the courtyard. When Sanjay Singh opened the door after hearing a noise, the assailants held him, his wife Rita Devi, and their child hostage, threatening to shoot them if they resisted. After tying up the family, the criminals ransacked the house, taking jewelry and cash. The victim's family estimates the stolen jewelry to be worth more than five lakh rupees, in addition to about 15,000 rupees in cash.

The criminals also targeted the locked house of Sanjay Singh's elder brother, the late Raju Singh, located in the same compound. They broke the lock and looted that house as well. Raju Singh's daughter serves in the Bihar Police.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a Dial 112 team arrived at the scene the same night. On Saturday, Daraunda Station House Officer Vikas Kumar Singh visited the spot, conducted an investigation, and questioned the victims. The SHO stated that an FIR has been registered based on Sanjay Singh's application, and efforts are underway to identify the criminals using digital evidence and other means. This incident, occurring amidst claims of increased police vigilance following a recent firecracker factory blast, has cast a shadow on the security arrangements in the district.
