In view of the Maa Durga idol immersion procession scheduled for Thursday in Siwan city, the district administration has decided to suspend electricity supply as a precautionary measure. This decision aims to prevent any potential accidents caused by contact with overhead power lines during the procession. Sadar SDO Ashutosh Gupta has issued necessary directives to the electricity department in this regard.

According to the administration's order, electricity supply will be disrupted in the affected areas from 10 AM on Thursday until the conclusion of the procession. This power cut is expected to last until midnight. The SDO has specifically instructed the electricity department to suspend power supply as a precautionary measure along the designated routes of the idol immersion procession and their adjoining areas. The primary objective is to prevent any electrical accidents and ensure the safety of devotees during the procession.

A large number of devotees, members of akhara committees, and local residents participate in the Durga immersion procession. During the procession, devotees carry tall flags, religious symbols, and other items, which pose a risk of coming into contact with overhead power lines as they pass through the city's streets and alleys. This precautionary step has been taken to avoid any untoward incidents during the immersion.

Apart from the city, arrangements for power cuts have also been made for processions in rural areas. The Sadar SDO has directed all Block Development Officers to ensure, through the Assistant Engineers of the electricity department, that power supply is suspended in their respective areas according to the scheduled time of the procession. In rural areas, electricity supply will be disrupted only during the period when the procession passes through a particular locality. Coordination between the administration and the electricity department has been emphasized to take necessary action.
