Residents of Brahmpuri village in Madhwapur block, Madhubani district, are increasingly concerned about the erosion caused by the Dhauns River. People living near Bhairav Sthan fear that the river's erosion could pose a serious threat to their homes and agricultural land. Although the river's water level is currently stable and there is no information about fresh water from Nepal, villagers in the border area remain highly vigilant following recent widespread devastation in Nepal.

According to locals, river erosion is an old and annual problem in Brahmpuri due to its location at the confluence of the Dhauns and Yamuni rivers. Each year during floods, several acres of fertile agricultural land are lost to the river. This erosion is now gradually advancing towards the village's populated areas, causing anxiety among families living along the riverbanks about the safety of their land and homes.

To address this critical issue, Brahmpuri resident Tapeshwar Kumar Sah has submitted an application to Madhubani MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav, seeking immediate intervention. The application also urges local MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar and MLC Ghanshyam Thakur to initiate steps for a permanent solution to the erosion problem. Villagers allege that the administration undertakes only temporary protection works each year, which fails to provide a lasting solution, leading to a recurrence of the same situation the following year. They believe that robust anti-erosion measures, if implemented in a timely manner, could secure both agricultural land and human habitation.

Following heavy rainfall and devastation in Nepal, villagers are worried that a direct release of water from Nepal could lead to major destruction in this area. They seek permanent preparations before future threats materialize. Upon learning of the villagers' problems, BJP OBC Morcha District President Ajay Bhagat visited the Dhauns riverbank. He met with residents, listened to their concerns, and assured them that the matter would be raised at the level of the MP and MLA, and necessary initiatives would be taken for a permanent solution.
