An e-rickshaw showroom located near the Middle School Hindi in the main market area of Sonbarsha Raj police station, Saharsa district, was robbed of lakhs of rupees on Monday night. Unidentified thieves scaled the boundary wall, broke the shop's lock, and stole batteries, motors, and other valuable items. To conceal their identities, the culprits also damaged the CCTV camera's DVR.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when the shop owner, Vikas Kumar, arrived to open his establishment. He found the shop ransacked and several items missing. Kumar immediately informed the Sonbarsha Raj Police Station. Upon receiving the report, Station Head Nagmani Kumar rushed to the scene with his team and initiated an investigation. Police are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to gather clues about the perpetrators.

According to Vikas Kumar, the thieves broke the shop's grille lock to gain entry. They made off with approximately half a dozen new batteries, an inverter battery, and an e-rickshaw motor, totaling goods worth lakhs of rupees. Police recovered a black scarf, two pliers, and an iron crowbar belonging to the thieves from the crime scene. Footwear marks on a four-wheeler near the boundary wall suggest that the thieves used a vehicle for their escape.

Station Head Nagmani Kumar confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, with efforts focused on identifying the thieves through CCTV footage. He assured the shop owner that the culprits would be apprehended soon and efforts would be made to recover the stolen goods.
