A major accident was narrowly averted in Matahi village, Bihar, when an electricity pole suddenly collapsed on the main road on Wednesday. The incident has raised serious concerns among locals, as the pole fell directly in the middle of the road, disrupting traffic and posing a significant risk. Fortunately, no vehicles or pedestrians were present on the road at the time of the collapse, preventing potential casualties or extensive damage.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fallen electricity pole was old and in a dilapidated condition. Villagers had repeatedly appealed to the electricity department for its repair or replacement, but their complaints were reportedly ignored. Local resident Ramesh Kumar stated, “This pole had been leaning for several days and could have fallen at any moment. We had informed the department, but no action was taken. Today it finally fell, thankfully no one was injured.”

The collapse has also disrupted the power supply in the area, causing considerable inconvenience to residents. Children's studies and daily chores have been affected. Villagers have urged the electricity department to immediately remove the fallen pole, install a new one, and restore power supply. They have warned of protests if prompt action is not taken.

This incident once again highlights the poor state of electricity infrastructure in rural areas. Old and dilapidated poles, wires, and transformers frequently cause accidents.
