A fisherman in Bihar's West Champaran district had a narrow escape from a large gharial in the Bansi River. The incident occurred near Jangal Luanthaha village, where an approximately 8-foot-long gharial was spotted in the river. A video of the incident has rapidly gone viral on social media, showing the gharial swimming in the river and the fisherman scrambling to save himself.

According to eyewitnesses, the fisherman was fishing in the river when he suddenly saw the gharial approaching him. Alerted by the creature's massive size and aggressive posture, the fisherman quickly steered his boat towards the bank. Fortunately, he managed to reach safety in time, averting a potential tragedy. Locals have stated that while gharial sightings are not uncommon in this area, the appearance of such a large one near a populated zone is a cause for concern.

The forest department has been informed about the incident. Officials have advised villagers to remain vigilant near the river and keep children away from its banks. They also stated that they would assess the situation and take necessary steps to safely relocate the gharial to its natural habitat if it continues to approach populated areas. This incident once again highlights the growing conflict between humans and wildlife, especially in regions where natural habitats are shrinking.
