Indian Railways has announced a significant measure to facilitate pilgrims during the upcoming Shravani Mela. This year, five express trains will make additional stops at Sultanganj railway station, providing much-needed relief to lakhs of devotees who embark on the pilgrimage to Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar after collecting holy water from Sultanganj.

According to an official from Eastern Railway, this arrangement will be effective from July 21 to August 19. During this period, pilgrims from various parts of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar will find it easier to reach Sultanganj. The trains with additional stops include the 13021/13022 Howrah-Raxaul Mithila Express, 15027/15028 Hatia-Gorakhpur Maurya Express, 13133/13134 Sealdah-Varanasi Upper India Express, 12369/12370 Howrah-Dehradun Kumbh Express, and the 13423/13424 Bhagalpur-Ajmer Sharif Weekly Express.

This initiative by the railway authorities aims to ease the travel burden for Kanwariyas, who begin their foot journey to Deoghar after collecting holy water from the Ganges at Sultanganj. The decision reflects the growing crowd during the Shravani Mela and the persistent demands from devotees. This move is expected to not only streamline travel but also aid in crowd management at Sultanganj station. Passengers are advised to leverage these additional stops for a safer and more convenient pilgrimage.
