विद्युत विभाग के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि उन्हें बछवाड़ा क्षेत्र में बिजली चोरी की गुप्त सूचना मिली थी। सूचना के आधार पर एक विशेष टीम का गठन किया गया और छापेमारी की गई। छापेमारी के दौरान, टीम ने पाया कि चार उपभोक्ता अवैध रूप से बिजली का इस्तेमाल कर रहे थे। ये लोग सीधे तार जोड़कर या मीटर में छेड़छाड़ कर बिजली चोरी कर रहे थे। मौके पर ही इन चारों के खिलाफ विद्युत अधिनियम की धाराओं के तहत प्राथमिकी दर्ज की गई और संबंधित उपकरणों को जब्त कर लिया गया।
विभाग ने स्पष्ट किया है कि बिजली चोरी एक गंभीर अपराध है और इसके खिलाफ लगातार कार्रवाई जारी रहेगी। बिजली चोरी न केवल विभाग को राजस्व का नुकसान पहुँचाती है, बल्कि यह विद्युत आपूर्ति प्रणाली पर भी अनावश्यक दबाव डालती है, जिससे आम उपभोक्ताओं को बिजली कटौती और वोल्टेज की समस्या का सामना करना पड़ता है। विभाग ने सभी उपभोक्ताओं से अपील की है कि वे वैध तरीके से बिजली का उपयोग करें और बिजली चोरी से बचें। विभाग ने यह भी बताया कि भविष्य में भी इस तरह की छापेमारी जारी रहेगी और पकड़े जाने पर कड़ी कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी। जुर्माने की राशि जमा न करने पर आरोपियों के खिलाफ कानूनी प्रक्रिया आगे बढ़ाई जाएगी।
