The newly established Government Degree College in Fulidumar block, Banka district, has finally commenced classes, marking a significant step for students in the region. However, a severe shortage of resources has raised concerns right from the start. The college has introduced undergraduate courses in six subjects: History, Political Science, Economics, Hindi, English, and Sociology. Alarmingly, only two teachers are available to teach all these subjects.

This situation poses significant challenges for both faculty and students. Dr. Vimal Kumar, the acting principal of the college, stated that currently, two guest teachers have been appointed, and they are responsible for teaching all six subjects. He acknowledged that due to the scarcity of teachers, it is difficult to dedicate adequate time to each subject. Despite this, they are making every possible effort to ensure quality education.

Students have also expressed their concerns regarding the teacher shortage, questioning how effective education can be delivered with such limited staff. They have appealed to the government and university administration to appoint additional teachers as soon as possible. Parents have also urged intervention to ensure sufficient academic staff is available at the college to prevent their children's future from being jeopardized.

The opening of a degree college in Fulidumar is a major achievement for the area, as previously students had to travel to distant cities for higher education. This was a long-standing demand of the local populace. Now that the college has started, there is an expectation that the administration will also focus on academic quality and resources, with ensuring an adequate number of teachers being the crucial first step.
