A tragic incident unfolded in Manpur, Gaya district, Bihar, during the Durga Puja festivities. Two sons of Sudhanshu Shekhar alias Pintoo Singh, a Sub-Inspector posted in Motihari, were shot by criminals near Nauranga Aahar in the Muffasil police station area. The younger son, Ranu Singh (30), succumbed to his injuries, while the elder son, Monu Singh (32), is in critical condition and has been admitted to Magadh Medical Hospital for treatment.

The shooting occurred near Siddharthpuri Mohalla in Manpur. Ranu and Monu were originally from Jethian village in Atri police station area, but their family had been residing in Siddharthpuri Mohalla, Manpur, for several years. According to family members, a dispute had taken place with an individual a short distance from their locality, after which both brothers were called to the spot. As they arrived, the assailants opened fire.

Local residents speculate that the incident might be linked to a dispute over gambling, as an illegal gambling and liquor den is reportedly operated near the crime scene. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed the exact cause of the altercation.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. They recovered some spent cartridges from the site and are actively working to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the true motive behind the shooting. The police have not yet released detailed information on the case, and the investigation is ongoing. The family is in mourning following this devastating event.
