Sanitation workers in Gopalganj city staged a massive protest on Friday against an assault on one of their colleagues, Ashok Ram. They completely boycotted work and marched through the city, demanding the immediate arrest of the attackers. The workers have warned that they will not resume sanitation duties until the culprits are apprehended, raising concerns about piling garbage and a breakdown in the city's cleanliness.

Anil Ram, president of the Sanitation Workers' Union, stated that Ashok Ram was recently severely injured in an attack by unidentified individuals. This incident has sparked widespread anger within the sanitation community. Anil Ram emphasized that such attacks are unacceptable and urged the administration to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators. He also demanded medical treatment and security for the injured worker.

The protesting sanitation workers marched through major city roads to the Nagar Parishad office, shouting slogans against the government and local administration. Their key demands include the immediate arrest of the attackers, compensation for the injured worker, and improved security measures for all sanitation workers. They have also threatened an indefinite strike if their demands are not met, which would further exacerbate the city's sanitation issues.

A large number of male and female sanitation workers participated, demonstrating solidarity and vocalizing their demands. They highlighted their crucial role in keeping the city clean and lamented the neglect of their safety. They appealed to the district administration for immediate intervention and resolution of their problems.

Officials from the Nagar Parishad met with the workers' delegation and assured them that their demands would be considered.
