Sarvesh Tiwari, a litterateur from Kuchaikot block in Gopalganj, Bihar, will be honored with the IFFCO Yuva Sahitya Samman-2026 for his novel 'Punyapath'. The announcement was made on Friday in New Delhi, marking the first time a writer from Bihar has received this prestigious award. The news has created a wave of joy in the literary circles of the district.

The selection committee, led by senior litterateur Shri Bhagwan Singh, announced the award after a meeting. IFFCO, a public sector undertaking of the Government of India, has been conferring the IFFCO Sahitya Samman since 2024. This achievement has also brought the village of Karwatahi in Kuchaikot into the literary spotlight.

Tiwari's novel 'Punyapath' was published in 2021 and achieved bestseller status in both 2021 and 2022. The selection of this work for the IFFCO Yuva Sahitya Samman adds a new milestone to his literary journey. His writings prominently feature themes such as Indian tradition, culture, and cultural nationalism. Besides 'Punyapath', his other works like 'Parat' and 'Purnahuti' have also been well-received in literary circles.

Sarvesh Tiwari, a resident of Karwatahi village, works as a distinguished teacher at the Primary School in Ahiyapur. He has carved out a unique identity by actively engaging in literary writing alongside his teaching profession. His selection is a source of pride for local literary and educational communities. Under Tiwari's leadership, the Sadanira Mahotsav is organized annually in Karwatahi market, attracting writers and literature enthusiasts from across the country. This festival promotes literary activities in the region and offers local residents an opportunity to connect with literature.
