Sanitation workers of Harnaut Nagar Panchayat are preparing to end their eight-month-long strike. The strike, which began on July 30, had brought all sanitation work to a standstill across the 19 wards of the Nagar Panchayat. This led to an accumulation of garbage and stagnant muddy water, especially after recent rains.

Following a report published by Dainik Bhaskar, the Nagar Panchayat administration initiated steps to address the striking workers' demands regarding outstanding Provident Fund (PF) payments. Checks for PF amounts from November 2025 to March 2026 have been issued, and the funds are expected to be credited to the sanitation workers' bank accounts within the next two to three days.

Banty Kumar, the Sanitation Manager of Harnaut Nagar Panchayat, confirmed that the workers have been informed of this development. He expressed hope that if no further political obstacles arise, the sanitation workers could resume work from Friday. This move is expected to resolve the severe sanitation issues plaguing the town. Earlier attempts to clear garbage using JCBs were met with resistance from the striking workers and were unsuccessful.
