In various villages within the Hasanpur block, the dilapidated condition of ponds ahead of the Chhath Puja festival has become a major concern for devotees. Due to the lack of desilting work, most ponds are choked with aquatic plants and waste materials. With only a few days left for Chhath Puja, it seems difficult for devotees to prepare ghats (bathing platforms) in these ponds to celebrate the festival.

Villagers state that most people in the villages traditionally celebrate Chhath Puja by building ghats along the banks of these ponds. The accumulation of silt at the bottom of the ponds and piles of wild grasses on the banks are hindering preparations for the festival. Locals allege that while the department issues directives for desilting and cleaning of ponds to Panchayat representatives and concerned officials, due to negligence, the formalities are completed without actual cleaning. This situation is expected to cause significant inconvenience to Chhath devotees.
