In a tragic incident in Lakhisarai district, a young man was found dead by suicide, hanging in his rented room in Nista village, under the Suryagarha police station jurisdiction. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the deceased's grandfather discovered him. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Chhotu Mallik alias Mako, son of Ashok Mallik, a resident of Khar Par, Manikpur police station area, who was currently residing in a rented house in Nista.

According to family members, Chhotu's wife, Puja Kumari, had died by suicide on the evening of August 3rd. Chhotu was deeply distressed following his wife's demise. He had a love marriage with Puja, daughter of Laxman Mallik from Rampur Mallik Tola, Suryagarha police station area, just four days before Holi this year.

Upon receiving the information, Suryagarha police station's SI MD Alam and ASI Manikant Yadav, along with police personnel, arrived at the scene. The police took the body into custody and initiated further proceedings. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Lakhisarai also reached the spot, meticulously inspected it, and collected necessary scientific evidence. The FSL team in-charge stated that the investigation report would be submitted to the case's investigating officer.

Suryagarha police station in-charge Rohit Kumar Singh confirmed the incident, stating that appropriate legal action would be taken based on the family's written statement and available evidence. The police are currently investigating all aspects of the case thoroughly. The actual cause of death will be confirmed only after the police investigation and post-mortem report. The news of this incident spread quickly, drawing a crowd of villagers outside the deceased's home.
