Islampur, Correspondent. A significant initiative has been launched in the Islampur assembly constituency to nurture sporting talent in rural areas. Following a request from MLA Ruhel Ranjan, Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh has instructed departmental officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for modernizing the Gautam Buddha Stadium in Telhara and the sports complex of Upgraded Higher Secondary School in Kovil.

MLA Ruhel Ranjan recently met with Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh and submitted a 15-point demand letter concerning the renovation, expansion, and modernization of both sports complexes. He emphasized that if talented players are provided with proper training and adequate resources, they can bring renown to the region at both state and national levels.

The proposed plan includes leveling the sports grounds, soil filling, developing green lawns, constructing boundary walls, installing security gates, ensuring proper drainage, and improving electricity supply. For sports-related facilities, there is also a proposal to create separate grounds and courts for various sports such as cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, and tennis.

To facilitate players, the construction of changing rooms, toilets, bathrooms, clean drinking water facilities, a sports equipment room, and a spectator gallery, along with an administrative building and guesthouse, has been proposed. Additionally, the provision of trained coaches has been suggested to guide local talent effectively. The MLA has urged officials to conduct technical inspections and approve these schemes on a priority basis. This initiative has sparked new hope among local sports enthusiasts and youth, who believe they will no longer have to depend on distant cities for practice.
