Festivities for Durga Puja commenced with great enthusiasm on Saptami in Jagdishpur and its surrounding rural areas in Bhagalpur district. On Saturday, devotees offered prayers to Maa Kalratri. Following Vedic chants, the idols were consecrated, and the pandals were opened for public viewing. As soon as the gates opened, a large crowd of devotees gathered, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere throughout the region.

There is immense excitement among devotees for the Durga Utsav. From morning onwards, a continuous stream of worshippers visited various pandals. A significant number of women and young girls participated in the evening aarti. Special prayers are scheduled for Maha Ashtami on Sunday, which is expected to draw an even larger crowd. Married women will also observe the 'Khoichha Bharai' ritual on this auspicious day.

Idols of Maa Durga have been installed at several locations, including the ancient and renowned Durga Temple in Jagdishpur Bazaar, as well as in Tagepur and Phulwaria. Grand pandals, vibrant lighting, and beautiful decorations are attracting a large number of devotees. To ensure peace and order during the celebrations, the administration and puja committees are working collaboratively, with police personnel also deployed.
