A recent incident at Jamui Sadar Hospital has once again raised serious questions about the state of healthcare facilities. Sadanand Singh, a resident of Churhet in Sono block, brought his 75-year-old father, Ranjay Singh, to the hospital for treatment of fever and pneumonia. Doctors advised a CT scan for the elderly patient.

However, when Sadanand sought a stretcher to transport his father for the CT scan, he could not find one for a considerable period. Despite asking hospital staff and others for assistance, no stretcher was made available. Sadanand stated that one stretcher was present, but it was already occupied by a deceased body, making it unusable. Faced with delays in reaching the doctor, Sadanand ultimately had to carry his frail father in his arms through the hospital.

A video of this distressing incident has gone viral on social media, exposing the severe lack of basic amenities in government hospitals. Despite claims of millions spent on healthcare infrastructure, such occurrences highlight significant systemic failures. The incident reportedly took place on Monday afternoon.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tanishk Kumar has acknowledged the incident. He has sought an explanation from the two trolley men on duty regarding the circumstances under which the patient was not provided with a stretcher. Further investigation and action will be taken after receiving their clarification.
