Jamu: Application Submitted to Stop Library Construction on Private Land with Government Funds
A case has emerged in Jamui district's Sikandra Mauza where a library is being constructed on private land using government funds. Makkeshwar Prasad, a resident of Bichhwe village, submitted a written application to the Planning Department on Monday, demanding an immediate halt to the construction, an investigation into the use of government funds, and accountability for those responsible.
According to the applicant, a total of 4.5 dismil land in Sikandra Mauza, under account numbers 286 and 465 and plot numbers 2633 and 2634, is registered in the names of 11 private individuals. A three-story 'Kushwaha Bhawan' has been built on this land for several years. It is alleged that a library is currently being constructed on the fourth floor of this very building using government funds from the Planning Department. The funds for this construction were reportedly provided from the then Chief Minister's SLC Fund. Prasad questions the basis for using government funds for construction on privately owned land.
Regarding the matter, Amit Kumar, SDO of the Planning Department, stated that land verification is conducted by the Circle Officer. He acknowledged that the project was sanctioned for a community building and that the library is being built on the fourth floor. The SDO confirmed that the matter has come to his attention and an investigation will be carried out.
