Jamui: Revenue Employees' Indefinite Mass Leave Continues, Public Suffers
In Barhat, Jamui, the Bihar State Land Reforms Employees Association has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the inconclusive talks held with the Revenue Department on October 26. The association has made it clear that their indefinite mass leave will continue until concrete action is taken on the ground, despite written agreements on their demands.
Nandan Kumar, General Secretary of the association, stated that no concrete timeline was set for resolving their demands during the talks with Revenue Minister Dilip Jaiswal, Departmental Secretary Jai Singh, and a seven-member delegation. He alleged that despite two years of correspondence and discussions leading to agreements, decisions are not being implemented. The association accused the department of stalling their demands, asserting that the protest would not end based on new assurances alone. The indefinite mass leave will persist until the points of the written agreement are implemented.
State President Abhishek Trivedi mentioned that many of the employees' 17-point demands had been agreed upon in talks with the Additional Chief Secretary and had also received approval from the Chief Secretary. However, despite this approval, nothing has been done for revenue employees. He declared that this is now a 'do-or-die battle' and the mass leave will continue until the Secretary's approval is enforced.
The indefinite mass leave by revenue employees is causing significant inconvenience to the public. Residents are frequenting circle offices for their land-related work. They reported that crucial tasks such as land purification, mutation, jamabandi (record of rights), and land surveys are stalled, leading to frustration and delays.
