Two teenage girls died on the spot in a tragic road accident near Dharasanda Morh on the Sikandra-Nawada main road in Jamui district, Bihar, early Tuesday morning. The girls were returning home on foot after offering prayers at Maa Netula Temple, Kumar, during the Shardiya Navratri. An out-of-control truck coming from Nawada towards Sikandra crushed them, and the driver fled the scene with the vehicle.

The deceased have been identified as 13-year-old Sulekha Kumari, daughter of Manoj Yadav, and 16-year-old Anshu Kumari, daughter of Sakendra Yadav, both residents of Panchmahua village, under Sikandra police station limits. The news of their death caused an uproar among their families and the local community, with a large number of villagers gathering at the accident site.

According to reports, many devotees visit Maa Netula Temple daily for prayers during Navratri. On Tuesday morning, Sulekha and Anshu had also gone to the temple. While returning home on foot after prayers, they were hit by a speeding truck near Dharasanda Morh. The impact was so severe that both girls died instantly. Other devotees were also present on the road at the time of the accident.

Enraged family members and villagers blocked the Sikandra-Nawada main road for about two hours at the accident site. Later, protesters moved to the main Sikandra chowk and blocked all roads, demanding that the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police visit the spot before the blockade would be lifted. Sikandra police have arrived at the scene and are searching for the absconding truck and its driver. This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of devotees walking to temples during Navratri.
