Motihari SP Swarn Prabhat on Sunday investigated the double murder case in Jihuli village, under Patahi police station. The SP met with the families of the deceased, Manina Khatoon and Jami Ahmed, to gather detailed information about the incident and thoroughly inspected the crime scene. He stated that three accused involved in the murders have already been arrested.

A reward of Rs 20,000 each has been announced for the other absconding accused. The SP issued a stern warning, stating that if the absconding accused do not surrender within a week, their properties will be attached following an order from the honorable court. He also assured that a speedy trial would be conducted to ensure prompt punishment for the culprits. The SFL (Scientific Forensic Laboratory) team has been investigating the case since the day of the incident, and police are also examining CCTV footage from the village. Action has been taken against the former station house officer for negligence in this case, and a new SHO has been posted.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over bathing buffaloes between two groups in Jihuli on Wednesday. Although the initial dispute was resolved, one group attacked the other the same night, resulting in the deaths of two people, including a woman. DSP Abhishek Kumar, newly appointed SHO Abhishek Kumar, Inspector Sujit Kumar Das, and Mukhiya Vikas Kumar alias Nikku Singh, among other officials, were present during the investigation.
