Jokihat police in Araria district seized 241.71 liters of foreign liquor from a Mahindra pickup near Kakan Toll Plaza on Tuesday morning. Two individuals, including the pickup driver, were arrested in connection with the seizure. Police received a tip-off around 3:30 AM on Tuesday that a pickup laden with liquor was en route to Jokihat from Bengal via Bahadurganj.

Acting on the intelligence, police initiated vehicle checks at Kakan Toll Plaza. Around 4:15 AM, a pickup truck bearing registration number BR09R-7626 attempted to turn back upon seeing the police, but was intercepted and stopped by the police team. The driver was identified as Lav Kumar alias Chhotu (28), a resident of Mangalgarh under Hasanpur police station in Samastipur. The co-driver was identified as Bajrang Ram (50), a resident of Saidukha under Khanpur police station in Samastipur.

During the search, bottles of liquor were found concealed in the pickup's cargo area. The consignment included 47 bottles of Royal Castle Blue Premium Whisky (180 ml each) and 311 bottles of Magic Moments Vodka (750 ml each), totaling 241.71 liters of foreign liquor. Police also confiscated two mobile phones from the accused and the pickup truck used for smuggling. Legal action has been initiated against both arrested individuals under Bihar's prohibition law.
