The water level of the Kamla River in Jhanjharpur is continuously rising, creating a significant flood threat in the region. According to reports, on Tuesday afternoon, the Kamla River was flowing 35 centimeters above the danger mark. This surge in the river's water level is a direct consequence of heavy rainfall in the Terai regions of Nepal and the upper catchment areas.

Officials from the Water Resources Department stated that the river's water level has been rapidly increasing for the past 24 hours. With the river flowing above the danger mark, pressure on the embankments has intensified, causing concern among local residents. The administration has urged people living in low-lying areas to remain vigilant and move to safer locations.

There is an apprehension that water might enter several villages within the Jhanjharpur sub-division. In view of the rising water level, local administration has put disaster management teams on high alert. Embankment monitoring has been increased, and preparations are underway to deal with any emergency situation. Farmers have been particularly advised to be cautious, as their crops could be destroyed if fields are inundated.

Local resident Ganga Ram Yadav said, "Every year during the monsoon, the Kamla River swells, but this time the water level has risen rapidly. We fear that if the rain continues, our homes will be flooded." There is a demand for the administration to seriously address this situation and take necessary steps to prevent loss of life and property.
