Recent continuous rainfall and strong winds, brought by Cyclone Arnab, have caused significant damage to ready paddy crops in the Karagahar block of Rohtas district. Farmers are deeply concerned as their standing crops have fallen, leading to substantial losses. There is also apprehension that the remaining crops might be damaged due to waterlogging in the fields.

Farmers report investing heavily in seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and labor for paddy cultivation. This crop damage has not only impacted their potential earnings but also jeopardized the capital invested in farming. Dhananjay Pandey, a farmer from Kanak Semaria village in Karagahar block's Shahar Khaira Panchayat, stated that approximately two bighas of his paddy crop have been destroyed. He had taken loans for cultivation, hoping to repay them and support his family with the harvest, but these hopes are now dashed.

The affected farmers are appealing to the administration and the agricultural department for immediate intervention. They demand a survey of crop losses in the affected villages and appropriate compensation as per regulations. Farmers also fear that continued rainfall could further damage the remaining crops in the fields.
