Severe Water and Fodder Crisis in Nokha's Roda Village: Two Tubewells Shut for 20 Days, Villagers Demand New Tubewells and Fodder Depot
Roda village under Nokha Panchayat Samiti is grappling with a severe shortage of drinking water and animal fodder. Villagers submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) on Wednesday, addressed to the Chief Minister, highlighting their plight.
Led by the Kisan Morcha Mandal Panchu, the residents demanded the digging of new tubewells, the immediate repair and restarting of two tubewells that have been non-functional for the past 20 days, and the establishment of a fodder depot in the village.
Lalchand Bhadu, President of Kisan Morcha, stated that fodder is currently being sold at an exorbitant price of Rs 22 per kilogram in Roda village. This high cost is making it extremely difficult for cattle owners to arrange feed for their livestock. He urged the government to open a fodder depot to provide fodder at subsidized rates.
Bhadu further informed that two crucial tubewells in the village have been out of order for the last 20 days. Many other tubewells also lack sufficient water, and even the operational ones do not run regularly, leading to a severe drinking water crisis for the villagers. The memorandum specifically requested the repair of defunct tubewells and the installation of new ones.
Considering the drought-like conditions, villagers also called for a 'girdawari' (crop survey) and demanded that farmers in Roda receive crop insurance benefits, along with the pending crop insurance payments for the year 2023. Several villagers and social workers, including Premsukh Kanthathala, Anandmal, Manoj Kuladiya, and Govind Dudi, were present during the submission of the memorandum.
