Khagaria Superintendent of Police (SP) and 2021 batch IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh has gone on a 45-day earned leave. According to a notification issued by the Home Department on September 23, 2026, he has been granted leave from September 5 to October 19, 2026. During his absence, 2009 batch IPS Pushkar Anand, currently posted in Bihar Special Armed Police-04, Begusarai, will hold the additional charge of Khagaria SP.

While the Home Department cited personal reasons for the leave, SP Bhanu Pratap Singh's wife, Pooja, has leveled serious allegations against him. Pooja claims that the SP has taken away their 5-year-old daughter and is threatening her life. She stated that Bhanu Pratap Singh is pressuring her for a divorce so he can remarry. The wife also alleged that she was brought from Patna to the Khagaria SP's residence and assaulted, and that there is no food or drink available in the house. She claimed to be locked in a room and that senior officers are supporting her husband.

Pooja mentioned that they had a love marriage and now she has been abandoned. She demanded to be reunited with her daughter and to have a peaceful family. She also accused her father-in-law of not cooperating. The wife further stated that she does not wish for her husband to lose his job, but only seeks her rights, her family, and her daughter. She alleged that attempts are being made to portray her as mentally unstable and that her daughter is being taught that her mother would poison her. She has appealed for justice. Earlier on August 2, the wife was also stopped by guards from meeting her daughter at the SP's residence, leading to a significant commotion.
