The All India Rural Agricultural Labourers' Union (KHEGRAMS) has commenced a two-day fast at the JP Mukt Kala Manch near the Sub-Divisional Officer's office in Arrah. This nationwide call by KHEGRAMS is to press for a 10-point charter of demands. The fast is being led by Vijay Ojha, secretary of the Arrah Muffassil block unit.

During the protest, activists raised slogans against the government, demanding the fulfillment of various issues concerning rural poor and agricultural laborers. Key demands include implementing year-round employment and a daily wage of Rs 729 under the 'Viksit Bharat Gram G' scheme. KHEGRAMS also seeks a monthly pension of Rs 6,000 for all rural poor.

Regarding electricity, the demands include waiving outstanding electricity bills for the poor, providing 200 units of free electricity, and halting the privatization of electricity and the installation of smart meters. The organization further demands guaranteed five decimal land and housing for the landless, loan waivers up to Rs 2 lakh for women, the poor, and farmers, and adding all poor individuals to ration cards to provide 15 kg of ration per person.

In the education sector, protestors called for a halt to the closure or merger of schools and a guarantee of free education up to graduation. Health-related demands include reactivating closed PHCs, CHCs, and other hospitals, ensuring the availability of doctors, paramedics, and diagnostic equipment, and providing free medical treatment. Several members, including Kamta Prasad, Janardan Gorh, Harishankar Sah, Mannu Paswan, Madan Paswan, and Rabri Devi, are participating in the fast. CPI-ML leaders Abhyuday, Sudhir Singh, Dilraj Pritam, Balkumund Choudhary, and Vikas Kumar alias Raja were also present at the event.
