A hall-like room at Karu Mandal Adarsh Middle School in Khesar, under the Phullidumar block of Banka district, has been in a dilapidated state for years, raising fears of a major accident. One part of this room collapsed several years ago, and the remaining structure is also severely damaged.

The debris from the dilapidated building is suspected to harbor venomous creatures like snakes and scorpions, creating a constant atmosphere of fear among students and teachers attending the school. Local villagers state that the condition of the building is continuously deteriorating, worsening significantly during the rainy season. Residents fear that if the building is not removed or repaired in time, a major accident could occur at any moment.

School principal Srikant Singh reported on Saturday that senior officials of the education department have been informed about the dilapidated condition of the building multiple times, both in writing and verbally. Despite this, no action has been taken to demolish the building, nor has any initiative been made towards its repair or the construction of a new building. Villagers and parents have urged the education department to immediately remove the dilapidated structure and arrange for a safe building to ensure the safety of the children studying at the school and prevent any potential accidents.
