प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, घटना मंगलवार सुबह की है। मजदूर ट्रक से मार्बल के बड़े-बड़े टुकड़े सावधानी से उतारने में लगा था। इसी दौरान संतुलन बिगड़ने से मार्बल के कई स्लैब एक साथ खिसक गए और सीधे मजदूर के ऊपर आ गिरे। स्लैब का वजन इतना अधिक था कि मजदूर को संभलने का मौका ही नहीं मिला। आसपास मौजूद अन्य मजदूरों और लोगों ने तुरंत सहायता के लिए दौड़ लगाई। उन्होंने मिलकर मार्बल के स्लैब को हटाने की कोशिश की और दबे हुए मजदूर को बाहर निकालने का प्रयास किया।
हालांकि, जब तक मजदूर को बाहर निकाला गया, तब तक उसकी सांसे थम चुकी थीं। घटनास्थल पर ही उसकी मौत हो चुकी थी। इस हृदय विदारक घटना के बाद वहां अफरा-तफरी मच गई। सूचना मिलते ही स्थानीय पुलिस भी मौके पर पहुंची। पुलिस ने शव को कब्जे में लेकर पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिया है। पुलिस ने घटना के संबंध में आवश्यक पूछताछ की है और आगे की जांच पड़ताल जारी है। मृतक मजदूर की पहचान अभी स्पष्ट नहीं हो पाई है, और उसके परिजनों को सूचित करने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है। इस घटना ने एक बार फिर निर्माण स्थलों पर मजदूरों की सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं।
